Cheryl is set to file for divorce from cheating husband Ashley this week.
The Girls Aloud and X Factor star believes there’s no way back and will push the button on divorce proceedings within days.
However, she doesn’t want a penny from the £82,000-a-week defender who cheated on her with five different women.
Last night a source close to the singer told the Sunday Mirror: “Cheryl has turned a corner and is now ready to move on. But she doesn’t want a messy divorce – it must be as quick and as amicable as possible.
“She’s not looking to profit and was never with him for his money. She doesn’t want a penny from him.”
On Friday Cheryl – who earns up to £6million a year from Girls Aloud, X Factor and sponsorship deals – made her first UK TV appearance since announcing her split with Ashley three weeks ago.
The singer, who was bedridden with bronchitis last week and forced to pull out of a planned appearance on Jonathan Ross, looked healthier than she has done in weeks as she performed her new single, Parachute, on BBC’s Sport Relief.
But the friend added: “Despite a brilliant performance, she’s still emotionally up and down behind closed doors.”
Cheryl, who remains at the couple’s £3.5million mansion near Godalming, Surrey, has been taking her pet chihuahuas Buster and Coco to bed with her for comfort.
“She’s spent weeks now yo-yoing, not knowing whether to take Ahsley back,” said the friend. “But she is ready to get on with her life and realises divorce is the only way forward.”
The Sunday Mirror can reveal how three weeks ago Cheryl made last-minute changes to the statement she released announcing the split – just in case she wanted to give him another chance.
The original draft said: “Cheryl Cole has announced the end of her marriage to Ashley Cole. Great efforts have been made to make the marriage work but they have failed.”
But the announcement posted on social networking site Twitter on February 23, simply read: “Cheryl Cole is separating from her husband Ashley Cole. Cheryl asks the media to respect her privacy during this difficult time.”
Despite her commitment to divorce Cheryl has still not reverted to her maiden name – with Sport Relief host Claudia Winkleman introducing her by her married name on Friday night when she gave an electric performance of her new hit single.
