Cheryl beat off female competition from the likes of Lady Gaga who came in at second place, Victoria Beckham, Kerry Katona and Katie Price.
Meanwhile, Beckham steamed ahead of the likes of Jeremy Clarkson, Simon Cowell and Peter Andre.
The poll was put together by RandomMeetUp and asked voters to choose a male and female celeb each.
A spokesman for the site said: ‘The winning celebs really weren’t too much of a surprise. Cheryl has been the nation’s darling for some time now, even more so since she split with her love rat of a husband Ashley Cole.’
‘And as for Becks, he’s a footballing legend who both men and women adore.’
Katie Price ranked fifth in the women’s polls whereas ex husband Peter Andre came in at second for the men.
What is likely to rile the glamour model is that Kerry Katona – who her husband was recently rumoured to be dating – also ranked above her in the popularity stakes coming in at fourth for the females.
Even Liberal Democrats leader Nick Clegg beat Simon Cowell in the poll despite TV’s Mr Nasty being voted as the top celeb women ‘shouldn’t but would’ last week.
