Cheryl, 27, reckons she’s ready to get back to work and far from having a relaxing time Stateside she’ll be getting busy.
Fresh from an enforced five weeks off X Factor/Girls Aloud duty while she battled potentially deadly malaria, Chezza has set a return-to-work date.
Officially, she has told X Factor boss Simon Cowell she will be ready to rejoin the show in the last week of August. Unofficially, she has already lined up three informal business meetings – and they’re all Stateside.
Fuelling speculation that she will be given a coveted judging role on US X Factor, Cheryl has been asked to attend a casual business lunch with producers at the Fox network.
She is also expected to meet bigwigs at rival station ABC, and the team behind Dancing With The Stars… on which, coincidentally [ahem], her close pal Derek is one of the show’s contracted professionals.
Finally, a dinner date has been arranged by Derek, 25, and American Idol host Ryan Seacrest. Phew.
We’re told: “Cheryl is improving day by day, and feeling stronger all the time. She has spoken to Simon and assured him she will be raring to go for the judges’ houses stage of X Factor at the end of this month.
“But, in the meantime, she refuses to sit still and do nothing.
“She has done enough of that of late – through no choice of her own.
“Cheryl has been asked to attend about a dozen meetings and lunches since being in LA and has turned down most.
“But because Derek’s sister Julianne is friends with Ryan, the four have arranged a dinner out. Derek hopes Ryan will persuade Cheryl to move the US more permanently.
“She is meeting execs at Fox who are keen to see what all the fuss is about, while Derek has also lined her up for casual talks with the DWTS crew.
“The world is her oyster and Cheryl knows how lucky she is.
“But, frankly, at the moment she is simply grateful to be alive and doesn’t want to jeopardise her health by taking on too much.”
