Cheryl Cole’s new single ‘Promise This’ is set to record one of the biggest first week sales of any single this year, according The Official Chart Company.

The song has already sold over 100,000 copies. However, Cole still has some way to go if she is to beat the year’s current highest selling single, which is Helping Haiti’s version of ‘Everybody Hurts’. The charity song chalked up 400,000 first-week sales.

Cole is likely to beat the current second highest selling single of the year, Katy Perry’s ‘California Gurls’, which sold 125,000 copies in its first week of release.

In the UK albums chart, Kings Of Leon look set to hold on to the Number One position with ‘Come Around Sundown’.

Check NME this Sunday at 7pm (BST) for the official chart results.
