With the end of this year’s X Factor, dawned a new project for Cheryl Cole – X Factor in the US. Cheryl Cole is rumoured to have landed a job on the US X Factor judging panel next to Simon Cowell.
But according to US star Jason Derulo, Cheryl may not be the best person for the job.
OK.co.uk recently had an exclusive chat with Jason, and when we asked him about Cheryl’s US X Factor job, he told us: “But no one knows her in America… I don’t think that would be interesting if no one knows her. I mean, isn’t that the thing? To have judges that you know who they are?
“I mean, no one really knew who Kara DioGuardi [American Idol judge] was, but she’s one of our time’s biggest song writers so that in itself is huge, but I don’t know that Cheryl has done anything in America to be able to decide if someone is good enough to stand in America.
“Like, how can you tell me if I’m to be a star in America, if you’re not?”
So what does Jason think makes a good mentor?
“You either have had to help build up someone’s career that has been successful in that area or BE that person,” he added.
“I don’t like to take advice from people that are not in that position, it’s like a football coach trying to teach ballet.”
And Jason, who has been writing music since he was 8, has his own bit of advice for X Factor winner Matt Cardle.
He said: “It’s hard to come off those shows. I don’t know what the rate is like here, but in America there have only really been three successful American Idols that have maintained success. It’s really hard to maintain a level of respect.
“[Those who have remained successful] are not puppet artists, when you’re a puppet artist you become a victim of the material that you get, and obviously you’re only as good as the material that you get.
“So [X Factor winner] should try and create their own thing, create their own identity so that people want to grab hold of them.”
Jason I think it’s time for you to go back to your autotune and keep enjoying to be a one album wonder.
