A simple skincare routine and a daily chocolate fix – the glossy popstrel shares her look-good secrets.

Forget the gym and get dancing

‘You should make exercise fun. I did ballet as a child and love to dance. I go through periods when I’m rehearsing six hours a day, although I develop muscles easily, so I have to be careful not to bulk up. I couldn’t bear being in a gym with a trainer screaming at me. Some people enjoy being motivated like that, but it’s not for me. I suggest getting a dance DVD.’

Experiment with hair colour

‘I love playing with the length and colour of my hair. I keep the richness fresh at home with L’Oréal Paris Casting Crème Gloss 550 Mahogany from The Glossy Berries Collection, £5.99, but I don’t like being committed to one hair colour, so I wash new shades in and out.’

Learn how to switch off

‘I don’t have a regular routine as most of the time I’m hectically running from studio to studio. When I do have days off, I just like to get up and have a lazy morning. It’s such a luxury not to set the alarm.’

The great leg illusion

‘I always think I’ve got little legs, but I keep them bronzed with a touch of make-up from L’Oréal (Sublime Bronze One Day, £11.99) to make them appear longer. I can’t wear fake tan as it doesn’t suit my olive skin tone.’

Indulge in a sweet treat every day

‘I have the world’s sweetest tooth, especially if I’m working long days. Sweets give me an energy burst – I call it the ‘four o’clock chocolate fix’.’

Bad breakfast, good lunch

‘I wasn’t educated about food at all, but over the years I’ve learned a lot about eating well. I don’t diet, I just have days when I think, I’ve had a bad breakfast today so I’ll compensate later on.’

Big is best

‘I love it when my hair is groomed and has lots of volume. It’s really important to me as that’s how I feel best. Maybe it’s because I’ve got so used to extensions, I just can’t see myself without them.’

Simple skincare works

‘I swear by washing my make-up off and moisturising before bedtime, as this is when skin rejuvenates. I use E45 Cream, £2.19, and Vaseline Lip Therapy, £1.99. I’m not interested in Botox. I don’t judge others but it’s not for me.’

Focus attention on the eyes

‘I don’t wear lash extensions – they’re high maintenance and I don’t want to start something I could get addicted to. I wear a full strip of falsies for television and I can’t live without L’Oréal’s Telescopic Mascara, £11.22.’

Hands-on treatment

‘I used to hate the idea of facials or massages – I used to think ‘What could I be doing right now instead?’ It’s only recently that I’ve been able to relax enough to have one. People underestimate the power of human touch. I never really appreciated it until now.’
