Cat Deeley believes Cheryl Cole could be just as popular in America as she is in the UK.
The Girls Aloud singer is in the running to land a judging spot on the US version of The X Factor – and America’s So You Think You Can Dance? presenter Deeley thinks Cole could do well in the States.
“Cheryl is just completely charming,” Cat told The Sun. “The whole public love her and she’s the nation’s sweetheart – I don’t see why she wouldn’t be that in America too.”
As for Cheryl’s strong Geordie accent – Deeley doesn’t think it will be an issue, as she could always “do something about that” if she had to.
“People talk about the accent all the time – maybe they would understand her, maybe they wouldn’t,” she continued. “It’s difficult to tell but I don’t see it as a stumbling block. She could do something about that anyway if she needed to.”
However, Deeley – who has had success in the US since landing her presenting job – understands that there’ll be a lot of pressure on Cole if she does get the X Factor USA judging role.
“It’s going to be one of the most expensive TV shows ever made. It’s going to have big expectations behind it.”
