Cheryl Cole’s ‘soldiers’ can rest easy – the Geordie pop queen has a new year’s treat up her sleeve with a promise to deliver her first new music in more than 12 months.
The timing means the charts could be dominated by Chez in 2012, as she will also join the comeback of Girls Aloud to mark their 10th anniversary next summer.
As for her own work, the US X Factor debacle has left the singer with plenty of free time in which to pour out her heart in the studio.
‘Cheryl’s actually been working on her new album since the very beginning of the year and the first single should be out early next year,’ a source told Metro.
‘She’s loving the experience this time around because she has never really had the chance to spend a decent amount of time recording her albums as they’ve always been fitted around the X Factor. It’s the first time she’s been able to properly take her time exploring and teaming up with people. The full album should be ready to go out within the first six months of next year.’
Judging by Chez’s late night antics, she won’t let sleep get in the way of making music.
The 28-year-old was pictured this week heading into a 1am recording session with hip hop producer Alex Da Kid at a Manhattan hotel.
‘Cheryl’s been having such a laugh in the studio. It’s always been about the music for her,’ the insider added.
‘She’s loving her new collaborations. Alex has worked on a lot of it and obviously Will.i.am has had a big input producing it. She’s never been far away from recording and has made sure she puts in time in the studio, whether it be in LA, New York or London.’
Cheryl’s first two albums, 3 Words and Messy Little Raindrops, both topped the charts.
