‘I Don’t Care’ is the second single to be lifted from the X Factor judge’s new album Only Human, following former number one ‘Crazy Stupid Love’.
The track has currently sold 49,000 copies and is on track to become Cheryl’s tenth number one in total (including four Girls Aloud hits and the 2010 charity cover of ‘Everybody Hurts’ for Helping Haiti).
The singer will also become the British female with the most number one singles in history if sales momentum continues, overtaking current record holders Geri Halliwell and Rita Ora.
Ed Sheeran’s ‘Thinking Out Loud’ drops a place to number two, as Meghan Trainor’s ‘All About That Bass’ also slips a place to number three.

John Legend’s ‘All Of Me’ shoots 22 places to number four following his performance on X Factor over the weekend, while Taylor Swift’s ‘Shake It Off’ rounds out the Top 5.
Harris enters the charts at 14 with ‘Outside’, featuring Ellie Goulding, as The Script are on course for their 12th Top 40 hit with ‘No Good in Goodbye’ at number 18.
Elsewhere, Nicki Minaj is looking at her 22nd Top 40 single with ‘Only’, featuring Drake, Lil Wayne and Chris Brown at number 26.
