They’ve insisted all along that they are just good friends – now Cheryl Cole and Derek Hough appear determined to hammer the point home by wearing friendship bracelets. The pair were spotted sporting identical bands yesterday as they went out shopping in South Africa, with Derek following meekly in Cheryl’s footsteps. The multicoloured beads look handmade and appear to have been bought during the pair’s holiday near Cape Town – and are a clear sign the couple are closer than ever. Cheryl seemed to be making a very deliberate point and made sure she brandished her wrist towards photographers on their outing to a shopping mall with friends yesterday. The Girls Aloud star had got rather dressed up for her jaunt to the shops, wearing killer heels that were so uncomfortable, she ended up taking them off and carrying them. The X Factor judge had glammed up in a sparkly zip-fronted mini shirt dress and bracelet. The pair are now in the second week of their holiday, based in Camps Bay near Cape Town, where they celebrated New Year – and shared their first public kiss at a party.

 Cheryl Cole and Derek Hough sealed their love for each other yesterday with a romantic New Year’s stroll on a sun-drenched beach. The X Factor judge looked carefree and relaxed as she walked with American dancer Derek – who she had treated to a week-long getaway to South Africa. Under a clear bue sky the couple laughed and joked as Cheryl waved goodbye to a nightmare year in which she divorced cheating husband Ashley Cole and nearly died from malaria. Cheryl, 27, started 2011 by sharing a passionate kiss with Derek, 25, in front of hundreds of guests at a lavish New Year’s Eve party – their first public display of their love. They toasted each other with champagne as the midnight countdown begun. And as the clock struck 12, they danced to Pink’s party anthem Raise Your Glass before smooching their way into the New Year. The kiss – at a lavish house party just outside Cape Town – proved once and for all that the pair ARE an item after months of speculation. Last night a source close to the couple said: “Cheryl and Derek are together and don’t care who knows it. “She wanted to spend New Year’s Eve with Derek because she sees her future with him. 2010 was the worst year of Cheryl’s life. But now she is looking forward to happier times with Derek.”

 Cheryl Cole has apparently cancelled plans to spend Christmas in LA and will be heading to her home town of Newcastle instead. X Factor judge Cheryl Cole was due to spend the festive season in LA with pal Derek Hough, but has decided after such a turbulent year she’d rather have Christmas at home in Newcastle with her family. Poor Derek is said to be devastated by Chezza’s decision, as he’d be getting his new home ready for her arrival. A source revealed: “She told him she’s exhausted and sick to death of travelling and just wants to be at home and have a chilled-out Christmas.” The songstress, who is preparing to launch her solo career in the US during 2011, says she sees Christmas as one of her last opportunities to spend time with her family before relocating indefinitely. The source added: “She said she wants to spend the whole period in casual clothes and not even leave the house. “She really misses her brothers and nephews, if she is going to be spending so much time in the US next year, she wants to make the most of time at home with her family while she can.”

 Derek Hough appears to have congratulated Cheryl Cole on her recent chart success. The X Factor judge scored her second number one in the UK with new single ‘Promise This’ at the weekend after shifting more than 157,000 copies. In a message posted on his Twitter account, Hough appeared to congratulate Cole when he wrote: “Dimples is number one wahooooooooooooooooo !!!! So proud of her, especially after such a tough year !! (sic)” The Dancing With The Stars professional met Cole when he made an appearance in her music video for ‘Parachute’ earlier this year and the pair have since been romantically linked by several publications. However, Cole recently told Piers Morgan’s Life Stories that she did not want to address the speculation by confirming whether the dancer was just a friend or a boyfriend, while Hough’s dancing co-star Mark Ballas reportedly refuted the rumours in September.

 Cheryl Cole and Derek Hough’s relationship is not sexual, according to one of his pals who claims the dancer is actually dating someone else. The Dancing With The Stars performer who has been linked with Chezza since her divorce from Ashley Cole is said to have told childhood friend Mark Ballas that his is not dating the Girls Aloud beauty. Ballas has revealed to heat magazine, that the rumours surrounding Derek and Cheryl’s relationship has been ‘distorted’ and they are nothing but good friends. 24-year old Mark told the publication: “Derek and Cheryl are just friends and are very professional…” “Just because they are both hot and are a good act, things get distorted, just like they are distorted when couples dance together.” He continued: “Derek is very professional and keeps things that way. That’s all they are – friends. He’s dating other people. He’s working really hard and dating.” Derek’s friends revelations have added to speculation that Cheryl is romantically involved with Black Eyed Peas rapper, Will.I.Am after reports emerged that the pair ‘got cosy’ while Will was helping Chez on the X Factor Judges Houses stage of the show.

 Lady GaGa may have stole the show at Sunday night’s VMAs, but one person who was missing from the star-studded bash in LA was Cheryl Cole. Reports suggest that Chezza opted not to attend the ceremony, in favour of spending the weekend with rumoured boyfriend Derek Hough. According the The Mirror, the Girls Aloud star and Hough enjoyed a romantic weekend together instead of attending the award show at the Nokia Theatre. Cheryl, who divorced her love-rat hubby Ashley Cole earlier this month, is thought to have jetted out to Los Angeles last Thursday to visit Derek after returning as a judge on the X Factor back in the UK. The Dancing With The Stars performer is thought to have treated Cheryl to a candlelit dinner at the Sunset Marquis hotel on the Saturday evening. A diner at the restaurant told the tabloid: “They looked like the perfect couple. Derek couldn’t take his eyes off Cheryl and she didn’t stop smiling the whole night.” “They looked so into each other, it was like watching a couple of lovesick teenagers. They were being very tactile and flirty – they didn’t seem to care who saw them.” They added: “Derek was being a true gent and treated Cheryl like a princess. He even pulled her chair out for her as she got up to leave before they slipped off quietly through a back exit.” Derek’s DWTS co-star, Karina Smirnoff, also told the newspaper that Hough is ‘head-over-heels’ for the Parachute singer, claiming: “Derek is so in love. He’s the happiest he has ever been. He deserves to be happy, Cheryl makes him smile.” I can’t believe Cheryl had a chance to goto the VMAs and she didn’t!

 Simon Cowell wants Cheryl Cole to ditch her dancer boyfriend Derek Hough – for the sake of her career. The TV mogul told Derek, 25, the Girls Aloud singer needs to focus on her work, it has been claimed. Simon, 50, laid out his thoughts for Derek in a man-to-man chat over dinner at his London mansion recently.A close friend of Derek’s said last night: “Derek said Simon was friendly enough, but very firmly told him exactly what he thought. “During the dinner Simon told Derek, ‘It’s nothing personal, I just don’t think Cheryl should be spending so much time with you so soon after her marriage break-up.’ “After the dinner Derek said to me, ‘I just could not thaw him out. He is just so firm about where he stands.’” Simon became Cheryl’s career mentor after he hand-picked the 27-year-old Geordie to replace Sharon Osbourne as a judge on X Factor in 2008. He has also supported her following the break-up of her marriage to cheating soccer star Ashley Cole. Derek’s pal claimed: “Derek told me Cheryl respects Simon more than anyone else and she knows it is down to him that she is where she is today. |
