Cheryl planning new ‘edgy’ image for US career?

Published by:
  2011/03/06

Cheryl Cole

Cheryl Cole is reportedly planning a complete change of style to help her to crack the US charts. Sources close to the Girls Aloud singer told a Sunday newspaper that Cheryl wants a “crazy” new look.

A pal told the newspaper that Cheryl feels she needs a fresh image to help her compete with established US stars.

The insider said: “Cheryl’s met top stylists and photographers to possibly shoot a new album cover as record bosses out here want everything to be fresher and more edgy.

“Cheryl wants to shake it up a bit and go a bit crazy. She feels she doesn’t have much of an image at the moment and wants to stand out from the crowd.

“She knows it will be hard to compete with Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Beyoncé so she’s prepared to do whatever it takes for people in the US to sit up and take notice.”

The source told the newspaper that Cheryl has said that she will move to Los Angeles whether she lands a place on the panel of the planned X Factor US or not.

I don’t normally post unconfirmed stories like these but this one is an interesting one, one worth discussing also, leave your comments below! I personally think Cheryl should stay what she’s like and not to change up her style just because she wants to compete.

Cheryl and Simon to officially quit UK X Factor

Published by:
  2011/02/21

Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole

Simon Cowell has officially decided to move on from his spot on “UK X Factor” to focus completely on the US version of “X Factor,” which will premiere on Fox Channel 10 in Tempe this fall.

X17 Online revealed the news just this afternoon. Both Cowell and his co-judge on “UK X Factor,” Cheryl Cole, announced their departures to ITV this weekend.

He reportedly made the following statement to ITV when he told them of his decision:

“I’m committed to the American show and I’m not going to do both.”

Right now, it looks like Robbie Williams and Adele will take over for Cowell and Cole on “UK X Factor.” With these two locked on for “US X Factor,” that leaves at least one more spot on the “X Factor” judge’s table open.

Who will join Cowell and Cole on the series? Will it be Paula Abdul? Or does Simon Cowell have someone else in mind? His departure from the UK edition of the series shouldn’t be any big surprise to fans of the series and Cowell though.

Cheryl’s latest tattoo sitting took 11 hours

Published by:
  2011/01/29

Cheryl Cole

Cheryl Cole’s new tattoo took 11 hours to be inked onto her back, it has been claimed.

The X Factor judge showed off the 13-inch butterfly-themed design at Wednesday’s National Television Awards. Sources allege that the etching symbolises her newfound freedom in the wake of her divorce from Ashley.

She is believed to have had the tattoo done at the Shamrock Social Club in Los Angeles last August and apparently only broke off during the sitting to get a sandwich.

According to The Mirror, Cheryl has told friends: “The tattoo is deeply personal. It took weeks to come up with the final design. It has a strong symbolic meaning and signifies a fresh start and my new independence.

“The sitting itself was pretty painful but I was determined to get it done in one hit. I didn’t cry once!”

Celebrity tattooist Henry Hate told the paper: “It would have been extremely painful, felt like intense sunburn and obviously taken many hours to do.”

Louis Walsh: “No Cheryl and Simon for UK X Factor 2011R...

Published by:
  2011/01/16

Louis Walsh, Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell

Outspoken X Factor judge Louis Walsh has claimed that this year’s series of The X Factor will only feature himself and Dannii Minogue from the current panel, with two new faces replacing Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell. According to News Of The World however, ITV bosses are keen to keep the current line up intact.

The newspaper quotes Louis as saying earlier this week: “It will be me and Dannii (Minogue) on the UK show with two more people.”

However a show source revealed to the tabloid: “It will be a disaster if they both go. The bosses are desperate to find a way around it but it will be such a huge commitment being on both shows.

“Simon’s priority is making the US X Factor the biggest TV show in the world. Cheryl wants to have a life. She doesn’t want to spend two days a week on flights across the Atlantic.”

The judging line up for the US version of the programme has yet to be announced, however Cheryl has been tipped to join Simon stateside in a deal worth £3 million.

A spokesperson for Cowell would only confirm: “How his role with The X Factor UK will work is still being discussed.”

I’d take this with a pinch of salt, I doubt anything has been finalized yet and either way, Louis Walsh loves to run his mouth all the time.

Cheryl: “I’m still single”

Published by:
  2010/12/18

Cheryl Cole and Derek Hough

Cheryl Cole has refused to confirm she is dating Derek Hough, instead claiming she has been too busy for love since splitting with Ashley in February.

The X Factor judge told Alan Carr in a new interview: “I’ve had no time. A lady doesn’t talk about these things.”

Her comments came just days after Derek apparently told the Promise This singer that he would end their relationship if she insisted on keeping it secret.

As already reported on MTV, the American dancer told Cheryl that either she go public with their relationship he would rethink his plans to join her in the UK for the festive season. “He is sick to death of all the rumours flying around about the two of them,” a source told New magazine.

Also in Cheryl’s new interview, which airs on Alan Carr: Chatty Man on Monday, the 27-year-old laughed off rumours of sexual tension with Simon Cowell. “There is nothing sexual with Simon. We have good chemistry.”

But he did give the Geordie beauty an unusual Christmas gift… vouchers for Botox injections! “I still haven’t opened mine. I’ll give it back to him… he could use it himself. But he looks younger now than he did before. Maybe the Botox works!”

Cheryl also admitted that this year’s X Factor was the hardest yet and that the atmosphere behind the scenes was “intense”. “It is hardcore backstage. We want to kill each other by the end,” she confessed.

Cheryl confirmed to join Simon Cowell on US X Factor

Published by:
  2010/12/03

Cheryl Cole

Few US viewers are likely to know who she is and neither of her solo albums has ever been released in the country. But Simon Cowell’s media clout on both sides of the Atlantic means Cheryl Cole is likely to be heading for America next year to present a new version of The X Factor with him in a £3m deal.

Last week the 27-year-old’s ITV performance was carefully scrutinised by executives from the Fox television network who, it is understood, are “very likely” to sign up Cole at Cowell’s behest.

For Cowell, the move is part of the biggest gamble in his remarkably successful career. The music mogul this year quit the US talent show American Idol, which he turned into the No 1 show on American television, to concentrate on The X Factor.

Cole’s arrival in the US would also add to the growing number of British presenters fronting high-profile American light entertainment shows, many based on formats from British television.

Max Clifford, who acts as a spokesman for Cowell, said that people should “watch this space for developments”, adding that “lots of people are being considered” and that “Cheryl Cole is one of them”.

Others on the list are thought to include US singers Jermaine Jackson and Lionel Ritchie, according to US television sources.

Taking a job as judge on the show would mean an 11-hour, twice-weekly commute – as both Cowell and Cole will stay as judges on the UK version – but Cowell believes the journey is worth it to make sure The X Factor format that he owns triumphs over American Idol, which was devised by British friend and adversary Simon Fuller.

Prince Harry ‘is desperate’ to meet Cheryl

Published by:
  2010/10/29

Prince Harry, Cheryl Cole

Cheryl Cole seems to have gained another admirer, this time in the shape of third-in-line-to-the-throne, Prince Harry.

According to The Mirror, the royal is ‘desperate’ to liaise with the Girls Aloud star, so much so, that he has arranged a meet and greet with the gorgeous Geordie backstage at The X Factor.

A source told the tabloid: “Harry’s a huge fan of X Factor and watches it week in, week out.”

“He fired off a series of missives, requesting time with Cheryl and some tickets to The X Factor. Harry was due to attend a private showcase but had to pull out at the last minute. So a visit to the Fountain Studios in Wembley, where the show is filmed, has been arblacranged for him instead.”

The insider added: “Cheryl is massively flattered and naturally keen on meeting the Prince. She might not be attracted to him but she thinks he sounds like a really good guy.”

Meanwhile, as thousands of Take That fans continue their quest to get tickets for their Progress tour after ticket websites crashed this morning, the lads have claimed they want Cheryl to be their support act.

Speaking to Radio 1’s Scott Mills, the five-piece made the request that Chezza joins them on their 14-date Progress road show, with Mark Owen claiming: “Do you have her direct line?”

The Promise This singer has already supported Black Eyed Peas on tour and here at MTV, we think she would be the perfect choice to join the TT boys! We can’t wait…
