Cher Lloyd is obsessed with Cheryl
Published by:

Cher Llloyd and Cheryl Cole

The X Factor finalist Cher Lloyd is reportedly ‘obsessed’ with her mentor, Cheryl Cole.

Lloyd, who was selected by the Girls Aloud star to be in her final three girls despite her poor audition at Judges’ Houses, has previously been compared to Chezza, but sources have claimed that the resemblance between the two is no coincidence.

The 17-year old already has a similar tattoo to the Promise This singer on her hand and is also said to have styled her hair like Cheryl, with insiders claiming her obsession with Cole is ‘freaky.’

A source told Now magazine: “When the other girls asked Cher how she stays so thin she told them she eats for her body type. The Eat Right 4 Your Type diet is something Cheryl once swore by.”

“What freaked everyone out was when she admitted she had a tattoo inked on her hand after seeing Cheryl’s.”

They added: “She plays it down, but she’s kind of obsessed with her.”

Meanwhile, fans of the teenager are reportedly worried that Cher may quit the show after fears that she will not be able to cope with the stress of the looming live finals.

According to the Daily Star, many viewers are concerned about Lloyd’s ‘anorexic’ appearance, with fears that she might collapse or pull out of the show.

Cher’s idol, mentor Cheryl, is also said to have expressed her concerns for the singer, after reportedly being ‘shocked’ by her ‘pale and thin appearance’ at her Judges’ House.

A cameraman told the tabloid: “When she came down the stairs to sing, Cheryl’s face said it all. She said: ‘Wow!’ but not in a good way. Everyone was pretty shocked at just how tiny and frail Cher looked.”

Cheryl pressured into axing Gamu from final 12
Published by:

Cheryl Cole

Cheryl Cole was told to dump X Factor star Gamu Nhengu over fears she may be kicked out of the country if her visa is not renewed.

Insiders claim the decision to axe the 18-year-old African and put Katie Waissel and Cher Lloyd into the final despite their poor performances was forced upon her.

A source said: “It was made clear Gamu shouldn’t go through because of the visa. Cheryl didn’t have a say.”

Hundreds of viewers complained to ITV at the axing.

As viewers watched Katie Waissel’s shambolic X Factor performance and Cher Lloyd quit in tears, most were certain the pair would get the boot.

And when Gamu Nhengu stepped up to put in a faultless delivery of her song, there were plenty of reasons to believe she would sail through to the final.

So fans across the land were stunned when Cheryl Cole axed the 18-year-old in favour of the two blundering stars.

But last night it was claimed the Girls Aloud singer was ordered not to put through Gamu because of concerns over her right to stay in Britain.

The Zimbabwe-born singer is awaiting a renewal of her visa and TV bosses feared if she was refused it could plunge the show into chaos.

Diana Vickers: “Cheryl was a fantastic mentor”
Published by:

Alexandra Burke, Laura White, Cheryl Cole and Diana Vickers

Diana Vickers has declared that Cheryl Cole was “a fantastic mentor” during her time on The X Factor.

However, the ‘Once’ singer added that winning the talent competition does not solely depend on who the hopefuls are supported by.

Speaking to MTV News, Vickers said: “Cheryl was a fantastic mentor. She’s a real tough cookie and put that into her contestants. It was her first year and she did a great job with us girls.

“[But] I think as well as it being about the judge and the mentor, it’s more about the individual contestant and how much they want it. It’s also about what they give along with the support of the judge.”

Vickers, who came fourth in 2008’s X Factor, also explained that she felt Matt Cardle, from Dannii Minogue’s Boys category, had performed best in this year’s competition so far.

She said: “One chap that has stood out for me was Matt Cardle. For me, he stood out by a mile.”

Cheryl glad Joe McElderry came out
Published by:

Cheryl Cole and Joe McElderry

Joe McElderry has revealed that Cheryl Cole sent him a supportive text message when he announced that he was gay.

McElderry, who came out in July, said that he appreciated his former mentor’s gesture – particularly since she was still getting over her battle with malaria at the time.

He told X Magazine: “She had a lot of her own stuff going on, so it wasn’t really appropriate for me to just phone her up and go, ‘Guess what Cheryl?’

“But she was fine. She texted me and said, ‘I’m glad you’ve managed to get it out.’ And she’s always been there whenever I’ve needed to talk to her or discuss anything. She was great.”

McElderry – who admitted that he lost the text message when he accidentally dropped his phone down the toilet – said that his mother was equally encouraging when he told her about his sexuality.

The 19-year-old added: “It was about a week before I told the press and we were on the train and I said, ‘I’ve got something to tell you,’ and she was like, ‘Oh, all right then,’ and then I told her, and she was fine.”

McElderry releases his next single ‘Ambitions’ on October 11, followed by his debut album Wide Awake on October 25.

Simon Cowell predicts third win for Cheryl
Published by:

Cheryl Cole and Alexnadra Burke

Simon Cowell believes Cheryl Cole may win ‘The X Factor for a third time because of the strength of the girls category.

The music mogul believes the Girls Aloud star will win the pop star search show for the third year in a row because of the strength of her group, which includes hip-hop lover Cher Lloyd and Zimbabwe-born Gamu Nhengu.

Discussing this year’s acts, Simon said: “In terms of what I’ve seen so far, particularly in the girls category, it should be a stronger year.”

Cheryl has also revealed her delight at being given the category, saying: “I am going for the hat-trick.”

The boot camp show which aired last night (26.09.10) saw all of the judges receive their categories – in addition to Cheryl’s girls, Simon received the groups, Louis the over-28s, while Dannii will mentor the boys, in a move she admitted she “wasn’t expecting”.

In addition to Gamu and Cher, Cheryl also has young mum Rebecca Ferguson and eccentric blonde Katie Waissel in her eight acts, which will go through to the judges’ houses section of the show.

In Dannii’s boys category are 18-year-old Aiden Grimshaw, builder Matt Cardle and Italian-born Nicolo Festa.

Simon’s groups include two newly formed bands, Belle Amie and 1 Direction – made up of people who initially auditioned in the girls and boys categories respectively – boy band Princes and Rogues and the Pussycat Dolls-inspired Husstle.

In the over-28s category are supermarket worker Mary Byrne, camp Scotsman Stephen Hunter and Storm Lee – who divided opinion on the judging panel at the audition stage of the show because of his cocky style.
