Cheryl defends ‘X Factor Wagner clash’ further

Published by:
  2010/11/22

Cheryl Cole

Cheryl Cole has reportedly defended her on-screen exchange with X Factor hopeful Wagner Carrilho.

The pair clashed over comments allegedly made by Carrilho to a national newspaper about her upbringing on a council estate. However, the 54-year-old told Cole that he did not know he was speaking to a journalist.

According to the Daily Record, Simon Cowell was furious with the ‘Promise This’ singer for discussing the comments on live television.

However, Cole is said to have told friends: “I don’t care what people think, I had to answer back.”

A production source commented: “Simon has made it clear he doesn’t think the judges should be attacking the contestants on the show in a personal way.

“You are supposed to comment on the performance and the singing, so he didn’t like that Cheryl got personal.”

The insider added: “Things were tense after the show. Simon wasn’t happy and let Cheryl know.”

Carrilho reportedly wanted to discuss the story with Cole shortly before the live show began.

“Wagner tried to come into her dressing room about 20 minutes before the show started and Cheryl was getting changed,” a friend claimed. “Luckily Cheryl’s door was locked or he could have barged in like with Mary.

“She was preparing for the show so she couldn’t see him and the next time she saw him was on stage so she felt she had to speak out.”

They continued: “She was pissed off and people were talking about it before the show and stirring it up with her. In her dressing room afterwards, she was saying she didn’t care what people thought about her speaking out. She had to do it because Wagner made it public.

“She was just defending herself and answering back, which she has always done in her career. She just pointed out a fact, and he should worry about his own luck and not what is going on with other people. She didn’t do anything wrong.

“When Wagner said what he said at the end, he was taking the p*ss, saying she was the most beautiful person. It was like, ‘Stop it now’,” the friend added.

Cheryl still livid about Wagner comments on X Factor live show

Published by:
  2010/11/22

Cheryl Cole

X Factor oddball Wagner banged on judge Cheryl Cole’s dressing room door and begged her to forgive him after he mocked her upbringing.

The Brazilian weirdo was desperate to avoid an on-air clash with Cheryl after describing her as “just a girl from a council estate who got lucky”.

But livid Cheryl REFUSED to see him and told him to “get lost” when he went looking for her before Saturday’s show.

A pal of the Girls Aloud star, 27, said: “He knew she was livid about what he had said and came marching up to her dressing room demanding to see her.

“He was begging to be forgiven and given the chance to explain.

“But she was getting changed and didn’t want to see him.

“He could have tried to make amends earlier – but for some reason he chose to try and tackle her minutes before the show. Maybe he had heard she was going to mention it on the show.”

And Cheryl did put the singer on the spot by challenging him on air about his insensitive remarks. She told him: “Normally I don’t have anything constructive to say to you. But I’ve heard this week you have been making some comments about me to the Press about being from a council estate.

“Yes I am – and I am very proud of my roots and I am very lucky.”

Panicked Wagner, 54, tried to dig himself out of the hole by explaining he was only trying to give her a compliment.

But his words fell on deaf ears. He was later seen crying backstage as Cheryl continued to refuse to speak to him.

The source added: “Wagner felt he had insulted the person on the show that all the viewers loved, so it meant curtains for him.

“He started raging about how no one understood him and that he was always being picked on. It was pretty pathetic really.”

Louis Walsh: “The X Factor needs Cheryl”

Published by:
  2010/11/16

Louis Walsh and Cheryl Cole

Louis Walsh has claimed that The X Factor “needs” Cheryl Cole.

The pair frequently clash on the panel but Walsh told Star magazine that he thought Cole was now the ‘biggest character’ on the show.

“I used to think it was Dannii,” he said. “But now it may be Cheryl!

“She didn’t like it when I said the show wasn’t all about her! But I was speaking my mind at the time.”

He continued: “I do like Cheryl, though – The X Factor needs her. When the cameras are turned off, she’s still a real sweetie. It’s not all an act with her.”

Wow Louis saying something nice about Cheryl for once, who knew?

Cheryl to quit X Factor after current season?

Published by:
  2010/11/14

Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole

Cheryl Cole is expected to quit The X Factor once the current series is over, according to reports. The Girls Aloud singer is understood to be leaving the show after three years on the panel to concentrate on launching herself in the United States, with the possibility of a role on the US version of the show.

A show source said: “Cheryl is finding it tough being made out to be Public Enemy No.1. She is used to being The X Factor’s most popular judge, so she’s struggled with people attacking her every move.

“She was seriously considering quitting after this year to concentrate on launching herself in America and the recent backlash is cementing that idea.

“Cheryl knows she is a huge star in the UK now and doesn’t need The X Factor to sell records. In fact, she is worried that being a judge could do her career more harm than good She knows the majority of fans still love her. But she has gone through enough difficulties in her personal life this year without putting herself in the firing line professionally as well.”

The source added: “Being blamed for Katie surviving last week was the last straw.”

The news comes after it was revealed earlier this morning that show executives from US network FOX were in the audience last night judging Cole for a role on the US version of the show.

An insider revealed: “Her performance last night could actually land [Cheryl] an extra £5 million a year. This could be the key to cracking America and selling loads of records there.”

The Girls Aloud singer joined the panel in 2008, replacing Sharon Osbounre. Since then Cheryl has used the programme to launch her solo career which has seen her sell millions of records across the world, with debut track ‘Fight For This Love’ becoming in a hit in 19 countries.

Hardly doubt this is true myself, but if it is, well done Simon for driving away Cheryl with the unessescarily created controversies.

Cher Lloyd defends Cheryl’s X Factor voting scandal

Published by:
  2010/11/13

Cheryl Cole and Cher Lloyd

X Factor’s Cher Lloyd has defended Cheryl Cole over last week’s voting fiasco.

X Factor fans were furious about Sunday’s show when Cheryl Cole refused to vote off either of her acts – Treyc Cohen and Katie Waissel – who were in the bottom two.

But 17-year-old Cher has voiced her support for mentor Cheryl in her weekly video diary saying: “I felt really bad for Cheryl. It’s not easy making a decision when it’s two of your girls in the bottom two.

“I know it sounds weird but it’s kind of like having two of your kids and giving one away. Can you imagine that?

“It would be weird and you wouldn’t be able to do it. So I do feel for her and everyone else out there should feel for her as well.”

Cher also admitted she was disappointed with last weekend’s performance and vowed to up her game ahead of this weekend’s live show.

She said: “I feel like I didn’t do my very best last week, but there’s no point kicking myself about it, it’s time to move on and I’ve got a really good song this week.

“Life has to go on. It’s a competition and people have to go out. It’s getting fierce now and it’s heating up, but you have just got to be prepared to fight your way through it.”

The story behind Sunday’s X Factor deadlock scandal

Published by:
  2010/11/10

Katie Waissel, Cheryl Cole and Treyc Cohen

X Factor presenter Dermot O’Leary revealed last night that the show’s producers had expected Cheryl to abstain from voting and had advised him what to do in that event. Talking to The Sun, Dermot also confessed that he doesn’t know in what order to ask the judges until he is told by the producers in his ear.

Dermot said he was told by producers: “If Cheryl decides to opt out we go to majority vote.”

The presenter explained: “We talked about it in the break because you find out two or three minutes before what’s going to happen.

“My producer said, ‘Look, if Cheryl decides to opt out we go to majority vote’.

“She did decide to opt out – and then she said, ‘Come back to me and we’ll do deadlock’.”

Dermot admitted: “It would have been a lot easier for me for Cheryl to be last.

He added: “There’s no precedent to it so it’s tricky.”

Dermot’s comments have provoked calls of a fix by fans, after it was revealed yesterday that Treyc had polled three times as many votes as Katie. According to reports more than 1,200 viewers have complained to TV watchdog Ofcom, despite the fact the issue has nothing to do with them.

Last night an X Factor spokeswoman said: “Cheryl was well within her rights to do what she did. There are no official rules on X Factor.”

A spokeswoman said: “Cheryl was well within her rights to do what she did. There are no official rules on X Factor.”

So this show is becoming an absolute JOKE screwing Cheryl over. I’ll just copy and paste here what I said on Twitter about this: I feel like people who are SO QUICK to criticise what Cheryl did on Sunday should do some research on the history of the show. They’ll find that a similar situation happened with Simon and he didn’t vote either. It happened in 08 and they didn’t even make Dannii vote, so the show has decided to suddenly change its’ format to fuck Cheryl over. How pathetic.
