Paralysed Tiarney Calder meets Cheryl, Simon and X Factor contes...

Cheryl Cole

Paralysed youngster, Tiarney Calder, from Kings Heath, had a private encounter with X Factor stars when she visited the studios for a behind-the-scenes peak.

She spent a few precious moments with the judges and contestants before having her photo taken with them.

The Wilson Stuart School pupil came face-to-face with hit-maker Simon Cowell and her favourite contestant Cher Lloyd, who is from Malvern.

And she spent an hour with Katie Waissel, the contestant who many viewers seem to love to hate.

But her big moment came when she met Cheryl Cole.

Her mum, Vicky Kane, aged 33, was with Tiarney, who was left paralysed in a car accident in 2005 and spent more than five years in hospital, for part of her day out, which was arranged by the Make A Wish Foundation.

She said: “Tiarney had a wonderful time and it was a dream day that she will never forget. She was so excited about meeting Cheryl.

“Unfortunately she didn’t spend too long with her as she was really busy.

“But Simon came and sat with her for 15 minutes and chatted away. He asked her if she liked the colour pink because she has a pink wheelchair and was wearing a skirt in the same shade.

“At the end of the meeting he told Tiarney she was welcome back to the show anytime she wanted. He was a lovely man and so friendly. He took a lot of time out to speak with Tiarney which she loved.

“I think the highlights were meeting Cher and Cheryl though as they are both her favourites. She also got a private meeting with Louis Walsh too.”

Vicky added: “Katie also took a lot of her time out to sit with Tiarney – she certainly wasn’t horrible and even though I didn’t support her at first, I do now.

“Belle Amie also sat with Tiarney. There was such a lovely atmosphere.”

Tiarney travelled down to London after Birmingham Children’s Hospital laid on the transport.

“It nearly didn’t happen but the hospital stepped in and offered Tiarney transport. It was such a fantastic day for Tiarney,” Vicky added.

Aaaw this is so beautiful, I just teared up a little, hopefully one day Tiarney will recover fully!

Cheryl and Dannii’s Jamiroquai X Factor Spat

Published by:
  2010/11/01

Did you spot the X Factor feud yesterday? Judges Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue were less than impressed with Jamiroquai’s lead singer Jay Kay when he appeared on the show over the weekend, after reading his less than complimentary comments about them in the paper.

Ahead of his performance on the show, the singer launched a foul-mouthed tirade against Dannii and Cheryl, reportedly branding them ‘useless’ in an interview with the Sun.

‘What the f***. When have you ever done anything? You’re useless. The pair of you. I mean you look great and I’d like to f****** s**g you but that’s all,’ the singer ranted to the newspaper, moaning about having to perform on the show.

‘I just don’t like the w**** stuff I have to do. F****** X Factor and that. ‘I’m going to have to sing in front of f****** amateurs. Do you know what I mean?’

Big mistake. Unluckily for the singer, the news traveled fast, and he received a decidedly lukewarm reception as he stepped on stage during the show.

And insiders said you could cut the tension with a knife. ‘The atmosphere backstage was extremely awkward. Cheryl and Dannii read his comments in The Sun on Saturday,’ one revealed.

Cheryl glared at the star and sat stony faced throughout his performance, while Dannii amused herself by doodling on a notebook and chatting to Louis.

And at the end of his song, there was no standing ovation. The girls refused clap at all, and even Simon didn’t seem that interested.

After appearing on stage, the sheepish star was forced to backtrack on his harsh comments. ‘I have to say, I’ve had reservations about appearing on the show but I’ve had a wonderful day,’ he told Dermot O’Leary.

‘Everybody’s been charming, it’s been wonderful.’

After Jay Kay left the stage, Dermot even joked about his frosty reception to Cheryl, saying: ‘It’s nice to see you smiling again,’ and adding: ‘Wow. I am never going to make enemies with you.’

I was loling so fucking bad last night at Cheryl and Dannii for doing that, that twat got owned.

Cheryl storms out of X Factor studios after Simon row

Published by:

Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell

The claws were out on the Halloween-themed X Factor as Simon Cowell criticised fellow judge Cheryl Cole for not paying enough attention to one of her contestants.

Cheryl Cole stormed out of the X Factor studio last night after a bitter row with Simon Cowell on live TV.

She was furious after he accused her of not working hard enough to turn finalist Treyc Cohen into a star.

Cohen, who was wearing a red hooded dress, sang Take That’s Relight My Fire in an attempt to get more public votes than last week when she was in the bottom two.

Cowell said: “Treyc I cannot fault that vocal. You are a great, great singer. The problem is that I do not think there is a connection between you and Cheryl.”

He turned to his fellow judge and added: “You have got to put some of your energy that you are putting into the others into her.”

Feisty Cole snapped back: “You are out of order. We have got a great connection.”

He challenged her: “Where does she live?”

Cole looked livid when she retorted: “I went to get her – Birmingham.”

The pair continued to bicker after Cher Lloyd’s “incredible” performance of Stay by Shakespears Sister.

Cowell, who dubbed Lloyd’s version of the song as the “best performance of the season”, said: “My only criticism is that obviously Cheryl is obviously trying to turn you into her.”

Cheryl blasts Louis: “You’re making yourself look st...

Louis Walsh and Cheryl Cole

Cheryl Cole has hit back at fellow judge Louis Walsh in their ongoing feud, telling X magazine that the Irish judge was making himself look stupid with his comments. The two X Factor 2010 judges have had a heated war of words this past week, with Louis recently branding Cheryl “trashy with a fake tan!”

Speaking about Louis’ outburst to the official X Factor magazine, Cheryl said: “It was really out of context. It was random. I just said to him [Louis] ‘If there’s a problem, come to my dressing room, and let’s have it out. Why are you shouting at us? What’s that all about?’.”

“I hadn’t even mentioned myself when he said ‘it’s not all about you – you’re making yourself look stupid!’. No, actually, you are Louis.”

Cole’s rant at Louis continued, with Cheryl adding: “Maybe he might think it’s all about the judges because he’s a judge. But for me, it’s about my girls and how they perform. I really don’t care what Louis’ opinion of me is.”

But a source close to Louis hit back: “Cheryl’s the one who spends the least time with her singers.”

Meanwhile Simon Cowell told The Mirror: “There are definitely two divisions. You’ve got Louis and Dannii, who look like they’ve been sucking on lemons. And then there’s me and Cheryl trying to have a good time.”
